INTRODUCTION
What’s more annoying than undergoing painful waxing or boring razor shaves to flaunt the slimy skin? There are solutions like laser hair reduction, which we often think is harmful to opt for. But in reality, it’s never. Let me help you all understand the benefits it offers by breaking the myths.
LASER – Light amplification by stimulated emission of radiation is a procedure by which the laser light is emitted to damage the hair follicles, thereby stopping the hairs from growing. The hair should be entirely in the growing phase so that the laser light is emitted on the hair follicle and is destroyed or damaged. As always, the three growth phases of hair, anagen, catagen and telogen, comes into the picture.
WILL LASER WORK IN THE ANAGEN PHASE?
It is always effective when done on the hair that is in the anagen phase. By anagen, it means the active growing phase. Not every hair will be in the equal growth phase. Some might be in the falling phase and resting phase. This is the reason mainly the procedure is done for some periodical sessions, say 12-14. Meaning the laser light reaches the dermis layer, efficient results concerning the stoppage of hair growth are attainable.
WILL LASER WORK IN THE CATAGEN PHASE?
The catagen phase is where the hair follicles will shrink and fall off the dermal papillae- the base of the hair follicle. So the light, if emitted on these, there won’t be much of an impact.
WILL LASER WORK IN THE TELOGEN PHASE?
Once the hair enters the telogen phase, it is on its way out entirely from the root. When the anagen phase begins again to grow, this hair will be pushed out as falling hair. To sum up, hair does not have any connection to the dermal papilla or matrix. Hence the effectiveness of laser therapy will be very low compared to other phases.
Our laser will undoubtedly be the best choice if you are tired enough to get a monthly waxing or razor and look out for the permanent solution.
WHY VCARE’S LASER HAIR REMOVAL?
Our doctors maintain the precision of laser light so well that the skin does not get heated up in the procedure. If the skin is prone to too much heat from the light, the possible chances are as follows:
- There can be a trigger in the melanocytes
- Melanocyte disruption can cause hyperpigmentation or hypopigmentation
- Burns and allergies.
A patch test is always conducted to analyze if the skin is prone to any allergic reactions. And a gradual hair reduction will be visible after the first session, leisurely after completing 6-8 or 8+ sessions. In people with PCOD, thyroid or other hormonal disorders where hair growth will be more, extra sessions will be given considering the density and volume of hair growth.
Primarily, there are slim chances of hair growing back after the sessions. This can be happening if the damaged follicles start healing on their own. Hence to avoid this, the sessions should be fully completed even though there is no hair halfway during the sessions to destroy the hair follicle wholly. But if any hair is spotted growing in the later years, a simple maintenance session will be required, or 2-3 sittings of the procedure will do wonders.
WHO IS NOT ALLOWED TO UNDERTAKE LASER HAIR REMOVAL?
Our clinics do not encourage pregnant women, lactating mothers, and those on a pregnancy plan. Though laser hair removal procedure is safe, keeping their safety prior we do not perform them.
